If you are delayed in transit and expect to be more than 15 minutes late, please contact the Reservations Office immediately. Buses scheduled for 4 p.m. must arrive by 4 p.m. to avoid a $100 after-hours fee.
Special Information for School Groups
While the regular Fallingwater tour is available to children who are 6 years old and up, it is not always appropriate for students in grades 1 – 3. Other programs are available for younger students by contacting the Curator of Education.
We require that school groups through grade 12 be accompanied by one adult for every 13 students. Students and chaperones must remain with their tour guide at all times during the tour.
Children need your guidance in order to understand the importance of not touching the furnishings or works of art in Fallingwater, which is now a museum. Please discuss the museum guidelines with your group in advance; we will ask your group chaperones to help us enforce them.
Special Information for Seniors and Senior Bus Groups
Many of our Fallingwater visitors have waited almost a lifetime to see the house. We are constantly working to make the visit comfortable for all ages. If you havent visited us before, here are a few tips to help you make your visit more enjoyable:
There is a 1/4 mile gradual downhill walk outdoors from the visitors pavilion to Fallingwater, with a marvelous first view. Limited van transportation is available for visitors who really cannot make this walk. Please ask at the Visitors Pavilion desk for this service when you are assigned to a tour group. Van service is also available at the end of the tour for the walk back up hill. Ask your tour guide to arrange for that at the end of your tour.
Comfortable walking shoes are a must!
There are no public restroom facilities at Fallingwater. Please use the facilities at the Visitors Pavilion before your tour.
Fallingwater is not air-conditioned. If youre planning to visit in the summer, its better to book your tour for the morning hours.
Fallingwater is a multi-storied house, with over 100 steps from the first level to the guest house on top of the hill. Fallingwater is a museum, and there are no places to sit down once the tour has started. If you do not want to do the climb, you may leave the tour in the living room area, and view a video tour of the upper floors. Simply tell the tour guide that you would like to leave the tour. The van will return you to the Visitors Pavilion, where you may join the rest of your party after the tour.
Motor Coach Groups will be greeted by a member of our staff who will board the bus to welcome you to Fallingwater. Detailed information about the tour, your exact tour time, museum guidelines, and other important information will be provided for the group.
Your group must remain in the Visitors Pavilion until the tour is announced over the loud speaker. The announcement can be heard in the café, museum shop, and restrooms.
Other visitor services:
If you will require special assistance during your Fallingwater visit, please let us know in advance. We offer the following additional accommodations to visitors:
Audio tours of Fallingwater in 5 languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. You may rent the tapes in the museum shop for $3, and use them while following a regular tour.
A tour script with corresponding color images is available at the Visitors Pavilion desk for persons with hearing impairments. We can also arrange for an interpreter with 15 days advance notice.
A video tour of the upper floors may be viewed on-site after touring the main level for visitors who cannot negotiate Fallingwaters steps.
